Our goal
We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA across the app. The reader gets the most care, because that is where you spend your time.
What works
You can read a whole passage from the keyboard.
- Tab
- Move into the text. The whole passage is one stop.
- ←→
- Previous or next word
- JK
- Next or previous sentence
- Enter
- Open the word card
- Esc
- Close the card or clear the selection
- ?
- Show every shortcut
Screen readers hear each word as you move to it, with its grammar and its role in the sentence. Single-key shortcuts can be turned off in Settings if they clash with your tools.
Case colours never stand alone. Turn on Colour-blind cues in Settings and each case also gets its own underline. The word card always names the case in words.
Motion follows your system's reduced motion setting. Text and marks are checked against a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 in light and dark mode every time the palette changes. Text size goes up to Extra large.
Known gaps
The arcs that link words in a sentence and the scansion marks on verse are drawn, not read out. The word card gives the same facts as text: what a word depends on, and its role.
Greek is never set in bold or italic, so emphasis in Greek relies on colour and underline only.
