Ὀφθαλμοὶ σκαρδαμύττοντες δειλίας κατήγοροί εἰσι· τοὺς γὰρ τοιούτους καὶ ἐπιβούλους ἢ κακόν τι κρυπτῶς Matr. ἀρτύοντας μαντεύουσιν. οἱ δὲ αὐτοὶ οὗτοι διάστροφοι ἢ ὑπωχριῶντες μωρίαν δηλοῦσιν. ὀφθαλμοὶ ἀσκαρδάμυκτοι δεινὸν βλέποντες κακόν τι μηχανῶνται. πράως δὲ ἑστῶτες καὶ νοτίδος ἐνούσης φροντιστάς, φιλομαθεῖς, ἥμερα ἤθη κεκτημένους καὶ ἐρωτικοὺς εἶναι σημαίνουσιν. ὅσοι δὲ ἀσκαρδάμυκτοι ὄντες ὠχροὶ ἢ φοινικοῖ φαίνοιντο ἅμα ξηρό- Matr. τητι, κακίαν καὶ μάχην ἢ ὀργὴν ἢ δαιμονικὴν κακό- τητα ἐμφαίνουσιν . . . . . .
