ὁ ἰχθὺς ὁ κέφαλος τῶν ἐν τοῖς ἕλεσι βιούντων ἐστί, καὶ πεπίστευται τῆς γαστρὸς κρατεῖν καὶ διαιτᾶσθαι πάνυ σωφρόνως. ζῴῳ μὲν γὰρ οὐκ ἐπιτίθεται, ἀλλὰ πρὸς πάντας τοὺς ἰχθῦς ἔνσπονδος εἶναι πέφυκεν· ὅτῳ δʼ ἂν ἐντύχῃ κειμένῳ, τοῦτό οἱ δεῖπνόν ἐστιν. οὐ πρότερον δὲ αὐτοῦ προσάπτεται, πρὶν ἢ τῇ οὐρᾷ κινῆσαι. καὶ ἀτρεμοῦντος μὲν ἔχει τὴν ἄγραν, κινηθέντος δὲ ἀνεχώρησεν.
