6. (V, 216.) Εἰ φιλέεις, μὴ πάμπαν ὑποκλασθέντα χαλάσσῃς θυμὸν ὀλισθηρῆς ἔμπλεον ἱκεσίης. ἀλλά τι καὶ φρονέοις στεγανώτερον, ὅσσον ἐρύσσαι ὀφρύας, ὅσσον ἰδεῖν βλέμματι φειδομένῳ. ἔργον γάρ τι γυναιξὶν ὑπερφιάλους ἀθερίζειν, καὶ κατακαγχάζειν τῶν ἄγαν οἰκτροτάτων. κεῖνος δ’ έστιν ἄριστος ἐρωτικὸς ὃς τάδε μίξει, οἶκτον ἔχων ὀλίγῃ ξυνὸν ἀγηνορίῃ.
