8. (V, 220.) Εἰ καὶ νὺν πολιή σε κατεύνασε, καὶ τὸ θαλυκρὸν κεῖνο κατημβλύνθη κέντρον ἐρωμανίης, ὤφελες, ὦ Κλεόβουλε, πόθους νεότητος ἐπιγνοὺς, νῦν καὶ ἐποικτείρειν ὁπλοτέρων ὀδύνας, μηδ’ ἐπὶ τοῖς ξυνοῖς κοτέειν μέγα, μηδὲ κομάων τὴν ῥαδινὴν κούρην πάμπαν ἀπαγλαίσαι. ἀντίπατρος τῇ παιδὶ πάρος μεμέλησο ταλαίνῃ, καὶ νῦν ἐξαπίνης ἀντίπαλος γέγονας.
