οὔτε γὰρ τὸ ἀσώματον σώματι μὴ συμπάσχειν ἀληθές (συμπάσχει γὰρ τῶν σωμάτων πασχόντων καὶ τὰ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἀσώματα, τὰ μὲν πλεῖστα κατὰ συμβεβηκός, ἤδη δέ τινα καὶ ἁπλῶς, ὡς ἡ ἐπιφάνεια τοῦ θλωμένου σώματος), ἀλλ᾿ οὐδὲ ἡ ψυχὴ τῷ σώματι συμπάσχει ὡς ἄλλη οὖσα καὶ κεχωρισμένη, ὡς οἱ φίλοι λέγονται συμπάσχειν, ἀλλά ἐστι τὸ πάσχον τὸ συναμφότερον, τὸ γὰρ ζῷον, ὂν ἐκ ψυχῆς καὶ σώματος, κατὰ μὲν τὸ σῶμα τεμνόμενον, ἀλγοῦν δὲ κατὰ τὴν ψυχήν·
