εἰ γὰρ καὶ τὸ φυτικὸν ψυχικόν, ἀδύνατον δὲ τῇ αὐτῇ δυνάμει ἅμα πλέονα καὶ διάφορα ἐνεργεῖν, ἀεὶ δὲ ἐνεργεῖ ἐπὶ τῶν ζώντων τὸ θρεπτικόν, ἤτοι οὐδεμίαν ἄλλην ἐνέργειαν ἐνεργήσομεν κατὰ ψυχήν, εἰ μία ἡ ψυχικὴ δύναμις, ἢ εἰ καὶ ἄλλας ἐνεργοῦμεν, οἷον αἰσθανόμεθα κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ τρεφόμεθα, οὐ μία ἡ ψυχικὴ δύναμις, οὐδέ πως ἔχον τὸ ἡγεμονικὸν περὶ ἕκαστα ἐνεργεῖ.
