ὥσπερ γὰρ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν ἄλλῳ πεφυκόσιν γίνεσθαί ἐστί τι ὑποκείμενον, ἐπιτηδειότητα ἔχον πρὸς τὸ κατ᾿ αὐτὸ εἰδοποιεῖσθαι, ὃ καὶ ὕλη ἐστὶν αὐτῶν (καὶ γὰρ βαρεῖ καὶ κούφῳ καὶ μεγάλῳ καὶ μικρῷ καὶ θερμῷ καὶ ψυχρῷ καὶ τοῖς ἄλλοις τοῖς ἀνάλογον τούτοις ἔχουσιν ὑπόκειται), οὕτως δὲ καὶ τοῖς χρώμασιν καὶ τῆς ἐν τούτοις ἐναντιώσεώς ἐστί τις ὕλη καὶ ἔστιν αὕτη τὸ διαφανὲς σῶμα.
