ἡμεῖς τε γὰρ ἡμῖν αὐτοῖς ἐσμεν οἰκειότατοι καὶ οὐχ ἁπλῶς πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς οἰκειώμεθα, ἀλλὰ τοῦ αὐτοῖς ἡμῖν περιγενέσθαι τὰ ἀγαθά. τοῦτ᾿ οὖν τὸ πρῶτον οἰκεῖον τὸ ἡμέτερον ἀγαθόν, καὶ τούτου ὀρεγόμεθα. ἐπεὶ δὲ εὐθὺς γενομένους ἀδύνατον τοῦ ἀληθῶς ἀγαθοῦ ἀντίληψιν ἴσχειν, τοῦ φαινομένου ἀγαθοῦ ὀρεγόμεθα. φαινόμενον δὲ ἀγαθὸν τὸ ἡδύ.
