31. Ἐν δὲ τῇ Λιβύῃ μέγιστός ἐστιν ὁ Νεῖλος· ὁρμιώμενος γὰρ ἐκ τῶν ὑπὲρ τὸν ἰσημερινὸν ἐν βάθει τῆς μεσημβρίας τόπων, ἐκδίδωσιν εἰς τὴν καθʼ ἡμᾶς θάλασσαν, ἐλικογραφῶν, ὡς εἰκὸς, ὅπερ ἐστὶν ἴδιον ποταμῶν, ὡς πιθανὸν εἶναι μᾶλλον ἀπὸ τῶν ἐκεῖ γιγνομένων κατὰ τὸ παῤ ἡμὶν θέρος ὄμβρων ἤπερ ἀπὸ χίονος σύστασιν τὴν πλημμυρίαν ἐνιαυσίῳ χρόνῳ ποιεισθαι. Φαίνεται δὲ καὶ ὁ Βαγράδας ὁ περὶ Καρχηδόνα ῥέων καὶ ὁ Κίνυψ ἀπὸ τῶν νοτιωτάτων. Τῶν δὲ διαρρεόντων σὴν ἐντὸς Αἰθιοπίαν καὶ τάς τε ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰ τέλη ἐν ἠπείρῳ ἐχόντων, μέγιστος ἐστιν ὅ τε Γὶρ καὶ Νίγιρ.
