Ἀχίλλειος δρόμος ἐκλήθη ἐκ τοιαύτης αἰτίας· Ἰφιγενείας μελλούσης σφαγιάζεσθαι ἐν τῇ Αὐλίδι τῇ Ἀρτέμιδι, ἀνήρπασεν αὐτὴν ἡ Ἄρτεμις καὶ ἔπεμψεν εἰς τὴν Σκυθίαν. Τότε δὲ ἠράσθη αὐτῆς Ἀχιλλεὺς, καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐπιδιώκων μέχρι τινὸς τόπου· καὶ ἐντεῦθεν ἐκλήθη Ἀχίλλειος δρόμος.
