ἀλλ' οὐκ εἰσὶ ταῦτα βαρύτερα λαμβάνειν; τί γάρ ἐστι φιλίας καὶ τιμῆς βαρύτερον, ὧν οὐδ' ἴσως γ' ἄρειον οὐδέν ἐστιν; τί δὲ καὶ βαρὺ ἦν ὅλως ἢ τί ἂν ἐγὼ βαρὺ ἔχοιμι; οὐδ' ἂν μὲν ἐργασαίμην οὐδὲν οὐδὲ πριαίμην οὐδέποτε, † δέον τινὰ μισθὸν ἴσον † ἐξ οἴκου, φασίν, ἐς οἶκον μετελθεῖν.
