(33) ὃ δὲ ταὼν τίκτει μὲν ἅπαξ τοῦ ἔτους, τίκτει δὲ ᾠὰ δώδεκα, ταῦτα δὲ οὐκ εἰς ἅπαξ ἀλλὰ παρ’ ἡμέραν· αἱ δὲ πρωτοτόκοι τίκτουσιν ὀκτώ. τίκτουσι δὲ καὶ ὑπηνέμια, καθάπερ καὶ αἱ ἀλεκτορίδες. ὑποτίθεται δὲ καὶ ἀλεκτορίδι, οὐ πλείω δὲ δύο, τῶν τοῦ ταώ. ἀλλ’ ὑπὲρ μὲν τῶν ᾠοτοκούντων πάντων τίς ὁ βίος καὶ ὁ τόκος αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ μοι δηλωθήσεται.
