(37) Ἔστι δὲ ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ μονήρης καὶ συναγελαστικός· ἐπαμφοτερίζειν γὰρ δύναται. λέγοι δ᾿ ἄν τις καὶ αὐτὸν ἀμφίβιον εἶναι. καὶ γὰρ ἐν τῷ ξηρῷ καὶ ὑγρῷ παρὰ μέρος εἰσὶν οἳ διαιτῶνται καθάπερ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἐν πολλοῖς τόποις· ἡμέρας μὲν γὰρ ἐν τῷ ὑγρῷ, νυκτὸς δὲ ἐπὶ τῆς χέρσου. τροφὴ δὲ αὐτοῖς ὅσα παρὰ τὸν ποταμὸν καὶ τὰ ἕλη φύεται.
