(37) γίνεται δέ, φησὶν ὁ Ἀριστοτέλης, καὶ ἐν πυρὶ καὶ ἐν χιόνι ζῷα μικρὰ καὶ δυσκίνητα τὰ μεγόμενα πυριγενῆ. πάντα δὲ τὰ κατηριθμημένα ζῷα ἄναιμα συμβέβηκεν εἶναι καὶ τελευτᾶν ἐλαίου αὐτοῖς ἐπισταζομένου, καθάπερ καὶ τὰ ἔντομα πάντα. ὅθεν αἱ μέλισσαι τοὺς τῷ μύρῳ χρωμένους καὶ εἰσιόντας τύπτουσαι ἀποδιωθοῦνται ὡς πολεμίου τοῦ λίπους ὄντος· διὸ δὴ ἀλιπεῖς πειρῶνται προσάγειν αὐταῖς, ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ δὲ καὶ ἐξυρημένοι τὰς κεφαλάς, ἵνα μηδεμία ἰκμασία λίπους λείπηται.
