(404) Σγοίη δ’ ἂν τὸ ῆθος ἀλώπηξ οδδέποτε τιθασὸν οὐδ’ εὐόμιλον οὸδὲ φιλίαν σπείσαιτο πρὸς ἀνθρώπους, ἀλλ’ ἄμικτος ἀεὶ καὶ ἀπρόσιτος καὶ δόλων οὐδέποτε ἐκτός. (405) Δέδοικέ γε μὴν ὅμως καὶ φεύγει λέοντα καὶ αὐτὸν ὅς κέκληται χαμαιλέων.
