(57) ἐπιμέμφεται δὲ καὶ Ἀριστοτέλης Κτησίαν τὸν Κνίδιον καὶ Ἡρόδοτον τὸν ἱστοριοτὸν μὲν Κτησίαν λέγοντα ὡς ψυχόμενον τὸ τῶν ἐλεφάντων σπέρμα σκληρύνεται καὶ γίνεται ὅμοιον ἠλέκτρῳ, τὸν δὲ Ἡρόδοτον λέγοντα ψεύδεμέλαν εἶναι τὸ τῶν Αἰθιόπων σπέρμα. τούτους δὲ ἐπιμεμφόμενος τῇ ἰδίᾳ ὑποθέσει προστίθεται. εἰ γὰρ πήσσεται τὸ τῶν ἐλεφάντων σπέρμα, οὐκέτι ἀφρῶδες· ὁ γὰρ ἀφρὸς ἄπηκτος· εἰ δὲ μέλαν, οὐκέτι ἐξ ὕδατος καὶ πνεύματος· ἡ γὰρ τούτων μίξις λευκή.
