(67) τοῦτο δὲ τοὐνυπάρχον ἐστὶ τὸ λεγόμενον ζωτικὸν θερμόν, ὃ πῦρ μὲν οὐκ ἔστιν· οὐ γὰρ δυνατὸν πῦρ γεννῆσαι τοιοῦτόν τι ζῷον, μᾶλλον δὲ φθεῖραι. φύσιν δέ τινα ὑπολαβεῖν δεῖ θερμοῦ ἐνυπάρχειν ἐν τῷ σπέρματι ἀναλογοῦσαν τοῖς τῶν ἄστρων καὶ τοῦ ἡλίου στοιχείοις, ἐπειδὴ ἡ ἐκείνων θερμότης ἐν αὐτῇ ἔχουσα ζωτικήν τινα δύναμιν οἵα τέ ἐστι ζφογονεῖν.
