(83) ἐκτίκτεται δὲ τὰ βρέφη ἀπολυομένων, διὰ τὸ βάρος τῶν προσπεφυκότων ⟨ὑμένων, τῶν) φλεβῶν ἐκ τῆς μήτρας εἰς τὸ ἀγγεῖον καὶ ἔτι διὰ τὸ μὴ δύνασθαι τὴν ἔχουσαν τρέφειν αὐτὸ διὰ τὸ παρηυξῆσθαι, ὅθεν σπανίζον τροφῆς ἀπαίρει καὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν κάτω ἴσχει. τοῦτο δὲ γίνεται αὐτοῖς εἰκότως· καθάπερ γὰρ ἐκ ζυγοῦ τοῦ ὀμφαλοῦ ἠρτημένα ὀφείλει ῥέπειν κατὰ τὴν | κίνησιν ἐπὶ τὰ βαρύτερα καὶ ὀγκωδέστερα τὰ περὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν καὶ τὰ στήθη μέρη· ὅθεν καὶ ὁ πόρος ἐστὶ τοῖς κατὰ φύσιν τικτομένοις ἐπὶ ταῦτα.
