10 τὰ μὲν οὖν ἄλλα δικότυλά ἐστε, γένος δέ τι πολυπόδων μονοκότυλον. σἴτιον δὲ τὸ μῆκος καὶ ἡ λεπτότης τῆς φύσεως αὐτῶν· μονοκότυλον γὰρ ἀναγκαῖον εἶναι τὸ στενόν. οὐκ οὖν ὡς βέλτιστον ἔχουσιν, ἀλλʼ ὡς ἀναγκαῖον διὰ τὸν ἴδιον λόγον τῆς οὐσίας.
