Πηλὸς νόσον σημαίνει καὶ ὕβριν· νόσον μὲν διὰ τὸ μήτε καθαρὸν εἶναι ὕδωρ μήτε γῆν ἀλλ᾿ ἐξ ἀμφοτέρων μεμίχθαι καὶ μηδὲ ἕτερον εἶναι. πονηρὸν οὖν σύγκριμα τοῦ σώματος τοῦτʼ ἔστι νόσον προαγορεύει εἰκότως· ὕβριν δὲ, ὅτι μολύνει. ἔτι δὲ κίναιδον διὰ τὸ ὑγρὸν καὶ ἔκλυτον. ἀγαθὸς δʼ ἂν εἴη τοῖς ἐκ πηλοῦ ἐργαζομένοις.
