Τὰ ἐν νεκυσίοις καὶ περιδείπνοις παρατιθέμενά τισιν οὔτε ἰδεῖν οὔτε φαγεῖν ἀγαθὸν οὔτε περιδειπνεῖσθαι νοσοῦσι μέν γὰρ ὄλεθρον μαντεύεται, ἐρρωμένοις δὲ θάνατόν τινος τῶν οἰκείων προαγορεύει. ὁ Σύρος ἔδοξε τῷ δεσπότῃ περίδειπνον παρατιθέναι, καὶ οὐκ εἰς μακρὰν κατώρυξε τὸν δεσπότην, ὥσπερ καὶ ὁ ὑπὸ τοῦ πάτρωνος ὄναρ πάλιν ἠλευθερωμένος ἀπέβαλε τὸν πάτρωνα θανάτῳ.
