τὸ δʼ ὄρθιον τοῦτο καὶ πλάγιον οὐ μόνον ἐπὶ τῆς ὅλης φάλαγγος ἐκδέχεσθαι δεῖ, ἀλλὰ γὰρ καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν μερῶν· εἰ γὰρ κατὰ κέρατα βαδίζοι ἡ φάλαγξ, ἢ κατʼ ὄρθια ἢ πλάγια, καί, εἴτε κατʼ ὄρθια εἴτε πλάγια, ἢ κατʼ ἐπαγωγὴν ἤτοι σύζευξιν· ἔστι δὲ κατʼ ἐπαγωγὴν μέν, ὅτʼ ἂν τὸ δεύτερον ἕπηται τῷ προτέρῳ, κατὰ σύζευξιν δέ, ὅτʼ ἂν μηδʼ ἕτερον θἀτέρου προηγῆται.
