Καὶ ἔδωκεν ἡ θάλασσα. Ἕκαστόν φησι, σῶμα εἰς ἅπερ ἀναλύεται, ἐξ ἐκείνων καὶ συνί- σταται καὶ ἀναδίδοται, εἴ τε γῇ, εἴτε θαλάσσῃ παραδοθῇ. θάνατος δὲ καὶ ᾅδης οὐ ζῷα ἔμψυχα, ἀλλὰ θάνατος μὲν χωρισμὸς ψυχῆς καὶ σώματος, ᾅδης δὲ τόπος ἡμῖν ἀειδὴς, ἤγουν ἀφανὴς, ὁ τὰς ψυχὰς ἐντεῦθεν ἐκδημούσας δεχόμενος· νεκραὶ δὲ ψυχαὶ, αἱ τὰς νεκροποιούσας πράξεις ἐπιφερόμεναι, " δικαίων γὰρ ψυχαὶ ἐν χειρὶ " Θεοῦ, καθὰ γέγραπται.
