ἐπυνθάνετο “τίνα χώραν ἔχεις παρʼ αὐτῷ;” κἀκεῖνος ἀπεκρίνατο “διοικητής εἰμι τῶν ὅλων, τρέφω δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν θυγατέρα, παιδίον νήπιον, μητρὸς ἀθλίας πρὸ ὥρας ὀρφανόν.” “τί σὺ καλῇ;” “Λεωνᾶς.” “Εὐκαίρωσ” φησίν, “ὦ Λεωνᾶ, συνέβαλον. Ἔμπορός εἰμι καὶ πλέω νῦν ἐξ Ἰταλίας, ὅθεν οὐδὲν οἶδα τῶν ἐν Ἰωνίᾳ. Γυνὴ δὲ Συβαρῖτις, εὐδαιμονεστάτη τῶν ἐκεῖ, καλλίστην ἅβραν ἔχουσα διὰ ζηλοτυπίαν ἐπώλησεν, ἐγὼ δὲ αὐτὴν ἐπριάμην.
