Νὺξ ἐκείνη φροντίδων μεστὴ πάντας κατελάμβανε καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο καθεύδειν· Χαιρέας μὲν γὰρ ὠργίζετο, Πολύχαρμος δὲ παρεμυθεῖτο, Μιθριδάτης δὲ ἔχαιρεν ἐλπίζων ὅτι καθάπερ ἐν τοῖς ἀγῶσι τοῖς γυμνικοῖς ἔφεδρος ὢν μεταξὺ Χαιρέου τε καὶ Διονυσίου αὐτὸς ἀκονιτὶ τὸ ἆθλον Καλλιρρόην ἀποίσεται.
