Ἐλεγχθῆναι γὰρ οὐ βούλεται πόλιν εἰποῦσα μίαν τῶν ὑφ’ ἡμᾶς, ἀλλʼ ὑπὲρ τὸν Ἰόνιον καὶ τὴν πολλὴν θάλασσαν τὸν περὶ αὑτῆς μῦθον ἐκπέμπει. Προφάσει δὲ δίκης ἦλθεν ἐπʼ ἐμὲ καὶ ὅλον τὸ δρᾶμα τοῦτο ἐκείνη κατεσκεύασε. Θαυμάζω δέ σε πῶς ἐόμησας Στάτειραν λέγειν καλλίστην ἁπασῶν, Καλλιρρόην βλέπων.
