Philo Leg. Alleg. III § 1 Vol. I p. 113, 3 Wendl. δόγμα εἰσηγεῖται διδάσκον, ὅτι ὁ φαῦλος φυγάς ἐστιν. εἰ γὰρ πόλις οἰκεία τῶν σοφῶν ἡ ἀρετή, ταύτης ὁ μὴ δυνάμενος μετέχειν ἀπελήλαται πόλεως, ἧς ἀδυνατεῖ μετέχειν ὁ φαῦλος. ἀπελήλαται ἄρα καὶ πεφυγάδευται μόνος ὁ φαῦλος.
