τῶν ἀνθρώπων θνησκόντων οὐδείς ἐστιν, ὃς δύναται φυγεῖν θάνατον καὶ μὴν ἑκάστου καθά πέρ φησιν Ἐπίκουρος ἀπὸ τῆς πρώτης γενέσεως πρός τινα χρόνον συστάντος ὥστε πλήονα μὲν μὴ δύνασθαι βιῶσαι ἐλάττονα δὲ δύνασθαι, τὴν ἀνάγκην τὴν κατὰ τὸν χρόνον τοῦτον οὐκ ἔστιν ἐποχῆι μεσολαβεῖν, ἀλλὰ τουτου τουτ ναγκατη τύχη
