Ἡ δὲ καλουμένη ἐπιμονὴ ἐστὶ μὲν ἑρμηνεία πλείων τοῦ πράγματος, μέγιστα δὲ συμβάλοιτ’ ἂν εἰς δεινότητα· παράδειγμα δὲ αὐτῆς τὸ Δημοσθένους, νόσημα γάρ, ὦ ἄνδρες Ἀθηναῖοι, δεινὸν ἐμπέπτωκεν εἰς τὴν Ἑλλάδα· οὐκ ἂν οὕτως ἦν δεινόν.
