PORPHYR. quaest. hom. I 274, 9 Schrad. [zu Φ 252] οἱ δὲ κατεψεύσαντο τοῦ ποιητοῦ ὡς μελανόστου ὑφ’ ἓν ὡς Ὀρέστου εἰρηκότος διὰ τὸ καὶ Δημόκριτον ἱστορεῖν ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀετοῦ τὰ ὀστᾶ μέλανα εἶναι καταψευδόμενοι τῆς ἀληθείας.
