Καὶ τοὺς ἀνδριάντας τοὺς ἐν ἀγορᾷ προσιὼν αἴτει τὰ ἄλφιτα. καλὴ γάρ που καὶ ἡ τοιαύτη μελέτη· ἐντεύξῃ γὰρ ἀνθρώποις ἀπαθεστέροις ἀνδριάντων. καὶ ὅταν σου μᾶλλον γάλλοις καὶ κιναιδολόγοις μεταδιδῶσι, μὴ θαύμαζε· τιμᾷ γὰρ ἕκαστος τὸν πλησίον ἑαυτοῦ καὶ οὐ τὸν πόρρω· εἰσὶ δὲ οἱ τοῖς πολλοῖς ἀρέσκοντες γάλλοι μᾶλλον ἢ φιλόσοφοι.
