Πολλαπλασιασμός ἐστι σύνθεσις ἀριθμοῦ τινος δοθέντος καθʼ ἕτερον ἀριθμὸν δοθέντα· οἱονεὶ ὅταν ὁ ἕτερος τοσαυτάκις συντιθέμενος ὁπόσος ἐστὶν ὁ ἕτερος ἐν τῷ πλήθει τῶν μονάδων καὶ ποιῇ τινα κατὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῆς συνθέσεως, ὁ γενόμενος λέγεται πολλαπλασιασμὸς τοῦ ἑτέρου κατὰ τὸν ἕτερον.
