Ἐὰν θέλῃς ἀπὸ διαμέτρου κύκλου εὑρεῖν πλευρὰν ὀκταγωνικήν, ποίει οὕτως· τὴν διάμετρον πεντάκις οὖσαν ιβ, γίνονται ξ· ἄρτι μερίζω· ὧν τὸ ιβʹ, γίνονται ε· τοσοῦτόν ἐστιν ἡ πλευρὰ τοῦ ὀκταγώνου, ἡ δὲ διάμετρος ιβ.
