Ἄλλως δὲ πάλιν ἡ διαγώνιος ἐπὶ τετραγώνου· ἐὰν ἔχῃ ἡ διάμετρος ιβ, λάμβανε πλευρὰν ὀκταγωνικήν, ὅ ἐστιν ἕ, λοιπὸν μένουσιν ζ· τούτων τὸ U+2220΄, U+222΄· ταῦτα ὑφαιρῶ ἀπὸ τῆς διαμέτρου τῶν ιβ, λοιπὸν μένουσιν η U+2220΄· ταῦτα δίς, γίνονται ιζ· τοσοῦτόν ἐστιν ἡ διαγώνιος τοῦ ἔξωθεν τετραγώνου.
