Ἔστω κῶνος ἀτέλεστος, οὗ ἡ περίμετρος τῆς βάσεως ξ, a ἡ δὲ τῆς κορυφῆς Ϛ, τὰ δὲ κλίματα ἀνὰ ιε· εὑρεῖν αὐτοῦ τὸ στερεόν. λαμβάνω τὸ γʹ τῆς βάσεως τῶν ξ, γίνονται κ, ἥτις ἐστὶν ἡ διάμετρος· καὶ τῶν Ϛ τῆς κορυφῆς τὸ γʹ, γίνονται β· καὶ ποιῶ ὡς τραπέζιον ἰσοσκελές, καὶ ἀφαιρῶ τὰ β ἀπὸ τῶν κ, λοιπὸν ιη· τούτων τὸ U+2220, θ· ἐπὶ ταῦτα πεσεῖται ἡ κάθετος· ταῦτα ἐφʼ ἑαυτά, γίνονται κα· καὶ τὰ ιε τοῦ κλίματος ἐφ ἑαυτά, γίνονται σκε· ἀπὸ τούτων ἀφαιρῶ τὰ πα, λοιπὸν ρμδ· τούτων πλευρὰ τετραγωνικὴ ιβ. ἔσται ἡ κάθετος τοῦ κώνου, τουτέστι τὸ ὕψος, ιβ.
