Ἐὰν δὲ θέλῃς τὴν διάμετρον εὑρεῖν ἀπὸ τῆς πλευρᾶς, ποίει τὸ ἀνάπαλιν· πάντοτε τὴν πλευρὰν δωοδεκάκις, γίνονται ρ· καὶ μερίζω καθολικῶς, ὡς προεῖπον· ὧν εʹ, γίνονται κ. τοσοῦτον ἡ διάμετρος τοῦ ὀκταγώνου. Ἔστωο ἐννάγωνον καὶ ἐχέτω τὴν διάμετρον κ· εὑρεῖν αὐτοῦ τὴν πλευράν. ποίει οὕτως· πάντοτε τὴν διάμετρον τριπλασίαζε, γίνονται ξ· ἄρτι μερίζω· ὧν θʹ, γίνονται Ϛ ??. τοσοῦτον ἡ πλευρά.
