Ἔτεμον σφαῖραν εἰς μέρη τέσσαρα καὶ εὑρέθη τὸ ἓν τμῆμα ἐξ ἀμφοτέρων τῶν μερῶν ἀνὰ ζ· εὑρεῖν τὸ στερεόν. ποιῶ οὕτως· κυβίζω τὰ ζ, γίνονται τμγ· ταῦτα δίς, γίνονται χπϚ· ταῦτα ἑνδεκάκις, γίνονται ζφμϚ· τούτων τὸ κα΄, γίνονται τνθ γʹ. τοσοῦτον τὸ στερεὸν τοῦ τμήματος.
