127 σίον φύεται ἐν τοῖς ὕδασι. θαμνίον λιπαρόν, ὀρθόν, φύλλα ἔχον ἱπποσελίνῳ ἐοικότα, μικρότερα δὲ καὶ ἀρωματίζοντα, ἅπερ ἐσθιόμενα ἑφθά τε καὶ ὠμὰ λίθους θρύπτει καὶ ἐκκρίνει, οὖρά τε κινεῖ καὶ ἔμμηνα ἄγει καὶ ἔμβρυα, δυσεντερικοῖς τε χρήσιμα βρωθέντα. Κρατεύας δὲ ἱστορεῖται περὶ αὐτοῦ οὕτως· πόα θαμνοειδής, ὀλίγη, ἔχουσα πολλὰ φύλλα περιφερῆ, μείζονα ἡδυόσμου, μέλανα, λεῖα, παρεγγίζοντα εὐζώμῳ.
