147 Μηδικὴ ἔοικε μὲν ἄρτι φυομένη τριφύλλῳ τῇ ἐν χορτοκοπίοις, προάγουσα δὲ στενοφυλλοτέρα γίνεται, καυλοὺς ἀνιεῖσα τριφύλλῳ ὁμοίους, ἐφ᾿ οἷς τὸ σπέρμα προσπέφυκε φακοῦ τὸ μέγεθος, ἐπεστραμμένον ὡς κεράτιον, ὅπερ ξηρανθὲν μείγνυται ἡδύσματος χάριν τοῖς ἀρτυτοῖς ἁλσί, χλωρὸν δὲ καταπλασθὲν ὠφελεῖ τὰ ψύξεως δεόμενα. ὅλῃ δὲ τῇ πόᾳ χρῶνται οἱ κτηνοτρόφοι ἀντὶ ἀγρώστεως.
