2 ἔστι δὲ ἐμπρακτότερον τὸ τῇ γεύσει πικρίζον καὶ ἐλαιῶδες, χλωρόν, διαφανές, ὄζον μυρσίνης. δύναμις δὲ αὐτοῦ στυπτική, σκληρυντική· διὸ καὶ ποιεῖ. μειγνύμενον ἀπουλωτικαῖς καὶ πρὸς πυρίκαυτα, ἀχῶρας, πίτυρα, ἐξανθήματα, παρατρίμματα, ῥαγάδας, κονδυλώματα, ἄρθρα κεχαλασμένα, ἱδρῶτας καὶ ὅσα στύψεως ἢ πυκνώσεως ἔχει χρείαν.
