ἐστι ταῦτα προφέροντα μηκύνειν· καὶ μαλ’ ὀρθῶς γε, ὦ Μητρόδωρε· πάνυ γὰρ οἶμαί σε πολλὰ ἂν ἔχειμ προενέγκασθαι ἃ ἐθεώρεις γελοίως πώς τινα ς ἐγδεξαμένους καὶ π άντα μᾶλλον ἢ τὸ νοούμενον κατὰ τὰς λέξεις, οὐκ ἔξω τῶν ἰθισμένων λέξεων ἡμῶν χρωμένων οὐδὲ μετατιθέντων ὀνόματα ἐπὶ τῶμ φανερῶν . καταγέλαστογ γὰρ δή τι καὶ τοῦτ’ ἐστιν, ὅταμ δ ψεῦδος δοπ μενομ μὴ ἕτερον ατα. ανσο δ
