Ἀλληλούια. Τὰ τῆς προγραφῆς τοῦ προκειμένου καὶ τῶν ἐφεξῆς αὐτῷ παρίστησι μὴ διὰ ψαλτηρίου εἰρῆσθαι τὰ προκείμενα μηδὲ ᾠδῆς ἐπέχειν τόπον, ἀλλὰ μηδὲ προσευχῆς μηδέ τινος τῶν ἄλλων προγραφῶν, εἶναι δὲ ὕμνους εὐχαριστηρίους. διὸ καὶ ἐπιγεγραμμένοι εἰσὶν ἀλληλούια, ὅπερ μεταβαλλόμενον εἰς τὴν Ἑλλάδα φωνὴν αἶνον θεοῦ σημαίνει.
