ἡ γὰρ σὺν πρόθεσις τῷ παρεῖναι προσκειμένη τὴν κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ σὺν ἑτέρῳ παρουσίαν δηλοῖ. οὐχ ἁπλῶς οὖν παρεῖναι, ἀλλὰ συμπαρεῖναι ἑαυτὸν τῷ πατρὶ διδάσκει. καὶ ὁ πατὴρ δὲ οὐχ ἁπλῶς ἔχαιρεν, ἀλλὰ προσέχαιρεν τῇ παρουσίᾳ τοῦ υἱοῦ· διό φησιν »ἐγὼ ἤμην ᾗ προσέχαιρεν καθ’ ἡμέραν«.
