Ὅτι βορειότεροι Μήδων οἱ Γηλοὶ καὶ οἱ Μάρδοι, ἔθνος Ὑρκάνιον, λῃσταὶ καὶ τοξόται ἄνδρες. Ἔτι δὲ καὶ οἱ Ἀτροπατηνοὶ, ἀπὸ ἡγεμόνος τινὸς Ἀτροπάτου καλούμενοι, ὧν Ἀτροπατία ἡ χώρα, δευτέρα μερὶς τῆς Μηδίας λεγομένη· πρώτη δὲ Μηδικὴ μερὶς, καθ' ἢν τὰ Ἐκβάτανα.
