Ὅτι μετὰ τοὺς Λοκροὺς ἔθνος οἱ Μεταπόντιοι, ὧν πόλις τὸ Μεταπόντιον, ἥ ποτε λεγομένη Σῖρις. Κληθῆναι δὲ οὕτω λέγεται ἀπὸ Μεταπόντου υἱοῦ Σισύφου, ὃν οἱ βάρβαροι Μέταβον ἔλεγον· κτίσμα δὲ Πυλίων τὸ Μεταπόντιον. Λέγονται δὲ πάνυ εὐτυχῆσαί ποτε ἀπὸ γεωργίας, διὸ καὶ ἐν Δελφοῖς ἀναθεῖναι τὸ θρυλούμενον χρυσοῦν θέρος.
