Ὅρα δὲ ὅτι τὸ φολίς ἐπὶ ὄφεως εἶπεν, ὡς τῶν λεπίδων ἰχθύσιν ἀπονενεμημένων· καὶ ὅτι τὸ φρίσσειν καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ἐπανεστηκυιῶν φολίδων ἔφη, ἀπὸ θαλάσσης καὶ ἐνταῦθα τὴν λέξιν μεταγαγών. Ὥσπερ γὰρ τὸ κυμαίνεσθαι θαλασσία λέξις, οὕτω καὶ τὸ φρίσσειν κυρίως, καὶ ἐκεῖθεν μετενήνεγκται εἰς ἄλλα διάφορα.
