Ὅτι περὶ τὴν ἑσπερίαν Σύρτιν, τὴν μικρὰν δηλαδὴ, δύο νῆσοι, Μῆνιγξ καὶ Κέρκιννα. Λωτοφάγων δὲ γῆ καὶ αὗται λέγονται καὶ μάλιστα ἡ Μῆνιγξ, ἐν ᾗ καὶ βωμὸς Ὀδυσσέως καὶ λωτὸς πολὺς, περὶ οὗ φησιν ὁ Γεωγράφος· «δένδρον τὸ καλούμενον λωτὸν, ἔχον ἥδιστον καρπόν.» Περὶ οὗ ἱστορεῖ πολλὰ καὶ Ἀθήναιος. Γέγραπται δὲ περὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τοῖς εἰς τὴν Ὀδύσσειαν.
