Ὅτι Σκύθαι Κρονίας ἁλὸς ἄγχι εἰσί. Περὶ ὧν οἷοι τὸν βίον εἰσὶν, ἤδη προγέγραπται. Καλεῖσθαι δὲ λέγονται Σκύθαι ἢ παρὰ τὰ σκύτη ἃ περιβέβληνται, ἢ παρὰ τὸ σκύζεσθαι ἤτοι ὀργίζεσθαι· ὀργίλοι γάρ εἰσιν· ἢ ἀπὸ Σκύθου υἱοῦ Ἡρακλέος, καθὰ καὶ ἀλλαχοῦ γέγραπται. Ἦσαν δὲ Σκύθαι καὶ Θρᾴκιον ἔθνος, οἳ καὶ Νομαῖοι ἐλέγοντο.
