Ὅτι περὶ τὰς τοῦ Θερμώδοντος κρυμώδεας ὄχθας τέμοις ἂν κρυστάλλου λίθον καθαρὸν, οἷα πάχνην χειμερίαν· εὑρήσεις δὲ καὶ ὑδατόεσσαν ἴασπιν, ἑτέραν οὖσαν τάχα παρὰ τὴν πρὸ μικροῦ ἱστορηθεῖσαν ἠερόεσσαν. Καὶ ὅρα ὅτι λίθου εἶδος ὁ μεταλλευτὸς κρύσταλλος, καθὰ καὶ ὁ μάρμαρος. Κρυμώδεις δὲ τὰς τοῦ Θερμώδοντος ὄχθας καλεῖ, διότι ὡς οἱ παλαιοί φασι καὶ θέρους πήσσεται, τῆς τοποθεσίας τὴν τοιαύτην ἰδέαν διεξαγούσης. Διὸ, φασὶ, καὶ Κρύσταλλός ποτε ὁ Θερμώδων οὗτος ἐκλήθη.
